Dismayed and frustrated with vague (or no) replies from failed job applications about why you didn't get the job?

You're in the right place!

from Jobzdojo is your new best friend!
(You know, the one who calls you on your BS & won't let you waste
your time and money on fruitless efforts)

Most often, people tend to think that the best way to search for a job in New Zealand is to work with as many recruiters, and to apply for as many jobs as they can. It's not.

It's about knowing your ultimate value in the market, understanding the NZ hiring cycle, and finding hidden opportunities to apply for in the job market. Most of all, it's about taking charge of your own job search journey, and being proactive with a proven strategy that doesn't leave it up to others to rely on.

Bill Raymond talks about his job search experience using The Jobzdojo Method and how he managed to get himself a job, not once but twice when he needed to, and ended up with two job offers the second time around.

As an accomplished, award winning copywriter one would think Alfred Lee's job search journey would be a piece of cake. He shares his journey with us and how Jobzdojo helped him secure the move to NZ.

Like so many of the job seekers we've come across, Stuart Wyness thought he knew what he was doing when it came to job search. He was even on the right track for the most part. Here, he expresses what it's like to work with Jobzdojo and what he found he was missing from his job search strategy.

stepbystpebackground.png

This is a step-by-step course that takes you through everything from research, to job search tools prep and implementation, to interviewing and securing the job offer you want.

We'll teach you how to do the initial research of the job market in the country, how to set up your LinkedIn profile, CV, Cover Letter and other job search tools as well as how to use them to your advantage, to planning out your strategy starting from the country you're in to when you arrive in New Zealand, to leveraging off the network and finding hidden job opportunities to interviewing to what to look for in the job offer paperwork.

When you have a solid strategy to follow you’ll:

  • Save money on paying others to prepare your job search tools – like on multiple tailored CVs, getting your LinkedIn profile professionally setup, or writing Cover Letters that set you apart from other job seekers
(We’ll teach you how to do this yourself and check your work so it looks professional).
  • Know how to package yourself as a highly marketable employee to the people with hiring authority.
  • Know how to find hidden opportunities that aren’t advertised yet, & position yourself as the only one applying for the job
  • Feel less stressed because you'll have built confidence in what you're doing, knowing that it works.
  • Get yourself a job faster by covering your tacks and leveraging the network, saving yourself time, money and emotion.

When Leon van Niekerk, the Founder of Jobzdojo, came to New Zealand, he didn't have any network or degrees to leverage off of. It was also 2009, the worst year to look for a job considering the depression the world was going through which mean't companies weren't hiring at the time.

As an entrepreneur, who needed a job offer to be eligible to live and work in NZ, he knew he had to get himself in front of the people who had the authority to make the decision to hire him, rather than to go through the typical HR and recruiter systems where the odds were stacked against him and there was a lot of red tape.

He started leveraging off his experience as an entrepreneur, and focussed on building a strategy to find hidden opportunities in the job market where he would be the only applicant for the job. Suddenly his fortune started to change and he was getting interviews and job offers before they had even seen his credentials.

He has used this method ever since and has been able to position himself as one of two people considered for every other job he has ever applied for. In one case they even made a position for him to full. Now, he is running his own company again and is teaching people how to use the same strategy he used to get himself a job in NZ as a migrant without a work visa.

Seven years later, #TheJobzdojoMethod has been tested through the success of the members who have implemented it as well as through extensive surveys and in-depth interviews with companies and business owners in order to perfect it and understand exactly what they want in a candidate.

What's in the course?

Course-Checksheets_Mockups.jpg
ipad-Strategy2.png

10 intensive modules, jam-packed with step-by-step modules, preparation and strategy lessons.

Resources & Tech Tutorials: easy to understand examples and tech tutorials: We're not just going to tell you how to do something, We're going to explain to you how to do it.

Foundation strategies: your strategy becomes a conversion machine, and you land opportunities to meet with interviewers and people who have the authority to hire you.

Module 1: The Foundation Module

Welcome to the course: We'll discuss our goals and how to prepare your mind for the job search journey. Then we'll cover your job search calendar and show you the best links to research the country, find out what you need to be eligible and prepare yourself for the job search journey. We'll save you time by giving you the best places to look, as well as qualified information all in one place rather than than wading through the mass of info on the net. Finally, we'll give you the full, comprehensive Jobzdojo Job Search Manual to download, and show you how to find everything you'll require for the course.

Module 2: The Mastermind Membership Support Group

Be supported and be supportive: We'll introduce you to our inner circle where you'll e-meet other Jobzdojo job seekers and alumni, our Partners in our network and get access to the job search coaches. You'll have a safe place (the group is unsearchable online) to ask questions and get professional answers as well as make what may be your first friends in NZ. And we'll look forward to meeting you in person when you're in NZ.

Module 3: Job Search Strategy

Choose your path: We'll talk about the different types of job search processes out there and show you which ones to throw out and why, which ones to keep and how they fit together in our proven, proactive job search strategy. First we'll dispel common job search myths, then we'll go through mistakes job seekers make, and we'll explain the NZ hiring process to you in detail. Once that foundation is laid, we'll ensure you understand the best strategy for job search in New Zealand - who you should be talking with and how to get in front of them. This will cover everything from understanding how job boards, recruiters, HR managers and Hiring Managers work, and how you can use this knowledge to your advantage as a job seeker. We'll discuss the common red tape areas such as no local experience, the work visa Catch22 and the over qualified status and we'll show you how to work around each area.

Module 4: How To Find Your Ultimate Value

This module will teach you how to plan your trip and most importantly how to lay your foundation for your job search. Everything from your personal brand, CV, online profiles and all communication hinges off of this aspect. You need to understand your ultimate value in the local NZ job market - whether you're moving countries or are already a local and are looking for a new role in a different company. Most people skip this step and end up presenting themselves as proficient in many areas instead of knowing what sets them apart from the scores of others applying for the same roles. We have a process which singles out what you need to be known for and we'll show you how to do that in this module.

Module 5: Getting LinkedIn

No modern day job search process is complete without LinkedIn. In this module you'll be shown how to do your LinkedIn profile with techniques on how to write it yourself, as well as how to use your profile to build and leverage your network in NZ. An important part of job search is knowing how to keep your life organised and how to keep track of each application, networking opportunity and email. We'll share our favourite tools to do this, and give you a system you can easily follow to integrate the process into your life to save time and help you keep on top of things.

Module 6: The Winner CV

Most people make the mistake of using a generic CV. In this module we'll show you our tried and tested NZ Jobzdojo CV - a CV which unlike most others has the aim of getting you in front of the people who have the authority to hire you - not HR or recruiters. There is a strategy behind the layout of the CV, as well as how it should be used to effectively get the response you need. No more sending your CV into the black abyss!

Module 7: The Personal Spark Letter

This is one of our favourite job search tools! It's a fresh and very effective take on the Cover Letter. It is used in a different way to the cover letter and has proven itself time and time again to get our job seekers success. We'll explain to you why it works, how to use it, and give you a step-by-step instructions on how to write your own and tailor it each time you send it out.

Module 8: Working with Recruiters

Many job seekers fall into the trap of working with recruiters incorrectly. This is a comprehensive module which teaches you how recruiters work, how to look for a recruiter to work with, and how to balance the relationships you have with your NZ network and your chosen recruiters so that things are mutually beneficial.

Module 9: Our Jobzdojo Partners

A large part of the success of The Jobzdojo Method comes from the Jobzdojo Network we've established. As part of our membership you'll be able to leverage the relationships we've built over time. Our partners are chosen for their services, their success rates and their willingness to work with immigrants and returning expats as well as locals. They have agreed to give our members Jobzdojo rates and cover a number of industries from the various recruitment industries to services you'll require when making the move to NZ (Help brining your money over, Immigration Advisors etc). You'll be introduced to our partners in this module and shown the best way to work with them.

Module 10: Networking in NZ

You'd be surprised at how many people do not know how to network effectively. It's not just about handing out business cards, getting connection requests on LinkedIn, or going to networking events where you meet as many people as you can who may be able to help you. In this module you'll what networking is and what it isn't, and most importantly we'll teach you how to strategically network by building relationships that are based on common ground and authenticity and how to leverage those relationships so that they are mutually beneficial. New Zealand is a social country and it's important that you understand the culture and how things are done here.

Module 11: Interviewing

Interviewing is often a challenging part of the process for many job seekers. This module aims to help you to feel confident and on top of things when you interview in NZ. We'll go through the interviewing process in NZ, how to prepare for each type of interview - from phone, skype, panel, coffee interview to the more conventional one - and how to address the interview conversation as an equal. We'll teach you how to navigation questions from answering them without using rehearsed answers to thoughtful and relevant questions to ask. We'll also work on those more challenging discussions such as salary and the work visa chat.

Module 12: The Job Offer

In this final step, we'll work through the NZ employee rights and how to organise your visa paperwork required from the company and we'll go over how things are done in terms of contract etiquette.

Module 13: BONUS VAULT

Training shared by our guests and any bonus resources over and above those already shared in the previous modules.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ WHAT ARE THE MAIN CHALLENGES MIGRANT AND LOCAL JOB SEEKERS FACE?

Poor understanding of the NZ culture and job market; how the hiring process works in NZ; lack of contacts; badly written cover letters or CVs; visa issues (no job offer = no visa); no - or weak - job search plan; no local experience; over or under-qualified; no idea where to get the best advice; second to the local competition to name but a few.

What you need is a proven, strategic plan; a really great presentation of your skills together with a strong personal brand; knowledge of the culture and what employers are looking for when they are hiring; a tenacious approach to the hard work and effort it takes to find a job in NZ and a visa - to be ready for your job search, or a plan to get a job offer in order to get your visa. The advantage we have in our unconventional approach is that we teach you how to think about what employers are looking for and how to find opportunities that aren’t advertised yet. This is why it works for both local and migrant job seekers.

+ WHAT STRATEGIES ARE USED TO FIND A JOB IN NZ?

The most common strategies are to apply through as many job boards and company applications online, while working with recruiters. Or to try to find companies themselves that may hire them or to use a service that will provide them with tools and support for their search.

+ HOW DO YOU HELP JOB SEEKERS?

Our aim is to empower the job seeker by teaching them how to become self-sufficient in their job search - instead of by paying people to assist them to prepare their job search tools or to soley rely on job boards and recruiters to get them a job. This is why the How To Get Yourself A Job In NZ Premium Job Search Course was made. As a self-paced, step-by-step course, it teaches the job seeker everything they need to know, and how to do everything required to get themselves a job in New Zealand, starting the process from he country they're in. They are supported throughout their job search with access to the Secret, Private Mastermind Group where they'll receive continued advice and coaching, support and invitations to the live networking events when they arrive in NZ

+ WHEN DOES THE COURSE START AND FINISH?

The course starts as soon as you log in to the Teachable platform with the link sent to you in the email, and how does lifetime access sound?

+ WHAT’S YOUR REFUND POLICY ON THE COURSE?

The How To Get Yourself A Job in NZ Premium Job Search Course has a 14 day refund policy. When you purchase How To Get Yourself A Job in NZ you agree to the policy. Please click here to view the entire policy.

+ HOW IS THE GYAJINZ COURSE DIFFERENT TO OTHER FREE SEMINARS AND TRAININGS I HAVE SEEN ADVERTISED OR HEARD OF?

Seminars are different in that they are typically delivered to a crowd of people with a speaker giving general information to the crowd. They are often free because they are intended for the company to get in touch with people who they can then sell their services to, for example CV services or visa services.

The Free Trainings we've seen do not teach our proactive method of job search, but rather focus on how to structure your CV to send it through the Automatic Tracking Systems (which we refer to as the abyss) by applying to as many job boards and companies as they can (we call this serial applying), as well as working with numerous recruiters and getting excited about interviews with recruiters and not the people who actually have the authority to hire you (also not HR).

The How To Get Yourself A Job in NZ Course is just that – a self-paced, hands-on course where we teach you in detail how things work in the job market in NZ, how to think in order to be successful in your job search here (and how to continue to increase your career opportunities), how to prepare and maintain your own job search tools such as your personal brand, social profiles, LinkedIn profile, CVs, Cover Letters, Interviewing techniques etc, and finally how to actually go about getting yourself the job you want.

It’s important to us that you understand why we are teaching you how to do the things the way we suggest, and that you know how the things we teach you will continue to benefit you in the future. We also want to form relationships with you and this is why we limit the number of times a year we open the course to new people.

+ HOW IS THE JOBZDOJO METHOD DIFFERENT TO OTHER JOB SEARCH METHODS I HAVE HEARD OF?

The Jobzdojo Method has been strategically developed over time through intensive research, surveys done quarterly with the people who have the authority to make the hiring decisions, and through people’s personal experiences who have been part of the Jobzdojo family and have succeeded in getting themselves jobs, as well as with companies that tell us exactly what they want to see in a candidate.

Jobzdojo is the philanthropic arm of CareerJunctionLtd, a head hunting company in the NZ IT and Finance space. The Jobzdojo Method has been tested all over the world, and has been refined especially for the New Zealand market. The program will continue to evolve through the continuous research that we do, and with the on-going assistance of our members who, like us, have made it our mission to assist people with job search.

We have a CV template which was designed and tested together with CEO’s and Hiring Managers, and not only have we had fantastic results, but we have managed to save countless people huge amounts of money since they are, with the help of our CV lesson, able to continue to produce professional CVs that are specifically tailored to market themselves with the very information that the people in authority want to see. The CV is just one of the examples we can give where we have managed to do this – differently.

Our method is not the old-school ‘pay someone to do your CV in NZ style’, apply through job boards to as many applications as you can, work soley with recruiters, talk to friends and HR managers strategy. Our method was designed through research of where the job search industry is going, and is an evolving answer to the international job skills shortage concern which some countries are already experiencing and others will experience in the near future. Our aim is to equip people with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the future job markets internationally.

Typically, other job search training seminars and programs give information about more formal job search - they talk about keywords and ATS systems, job boards and recruiters, and how the typical recruitment system works here in NZ. They have lists of recruiters, and professional CV writing services etc to assist you. They differ to us in that they put you in touch with people who will do the work for you, where our approach is to teach you why and how to get yourself a job in NZ. We do have a network for you to leverage off of and access to recruiters in different industries, as well as immigration, financial etc agents to assist you should you want their services. We have found that by doing job search the Jobzdojo way, our job seekers are not only arguably better candidates for companies to hire, but that they are also able to get theselves jobs quicker, even though the job search process may differ from person to person.

+ WHO IS ELLIGIBLE TO TAKE THE COURSE?

Anyone from any industry will benefit from doing the course. As far as immigration is concerned, we have immigration agents who can assist you to work out the best immigration strategy for you and your family to be elligble to work and even live in New Zealand if that’s an option. We also have professionals in the different areas of expertise (such as IT & Finance, or the Industrial Sector for example) who are able to give you advice on what you’ll require in terms of qualifications, experience or organisations you need to be part of.

Local job seekers are in a strong postion as they are eligible to work in NZ and most often have local experience, however they struggle to find work too – because of the strategy they are applying. We frequently work with those who have been made redundant, have been looking for a long time or who want to change industries.

+ HOW CAN I SAVE MONEY BY PURCHASING THIS JOB SEARCH COURSE?

When you purchase the How To Get Yourself A Job In NZ Premium Job Search Course you are paying one time for a lifetime of access, and most importantly, for the in-depth training of each section of the job search process: when you attend free workshops and seminars you end up paying for professional CV/LinkedIn services (we’ve seen prices of up to $350 alone for one CV), and/or coaching sessions (1 hour interview couching session for $199), or Cover Letter writing services to name a few extra expenses, not to mention the time it takes to work out everything by researching and talking to people yourself through trial-and-error which costs you time and money while you search for your job. This job search course will save you all that effort by teaching you what to do, how to do it and where to focus your time an effort. We’ve seen people spend thousands of dollars that they ‘don’t have’ on their job search because they thought they had a plan and then found out it wasn’t the best one in the amount of time they had.

+ HOW LONG DOES THE AVERAGE JOBZDOJO MEMBER TAKE TO GET THEMSELVES A JOB?

The time it takes to secure a job offer differs from person to person, as some have got their job offer as little as two weeks of employing our techniques diligently and correctly, while others have taken longer. We even had one lady search for two months, then learn The Jobzdojo Method and apply again (to a job she was previously refused) and got the position later the same day.

+ CAN YOU GUARANTEE ME A JOB?

No. Unfortunately, as much as we’d love to, we can’t make someone hire you. Only an employer can guarantee you a job. If anyone other than an employer guarantees you a job in return for a fee, our advice would be to walk away from that deal. However, what we can do, and will do, is equip you with the best tools and processes to improve your odds and chances of securing a job. We’ll give you the foundation and the strategy, but it’s up to you to put in the effort to apply what we teach you and get yourself that job. We are always around to keep assisting you wherever we can, but if you take this course you'll need to put in the hours of hard work yourself.

DISCLAIMER:
The Jobzdojo Method only works if you do, but it does not do the work for you. Getting a job is not a walk in the park: it requires time and effort which you need to be willing to put in to implement the strategies explained in the material - but it is SIMPLE once you understand exactly what you need to do and how to do it. The best thing is that once you've learned these strategies, they will completely change the way you do job search for the better, and you can use them to further your career in the future. No more vague job search advice. No more serial applying. Just tried-and-tested tactics that really work.

We have represented this course as honestly and truthfully as possible, and the methods we teach in this course have worked for us and our members. Your results may vary depending on a variety of factors including your skills, knowledge, ability, dedication, business savvy, engagement of your network, eligibility to live and work in New Zealand etc.  These factors vary according to each individual, and as a result we cannot and do not guarantee your success. This is not a quick fix or a magic pill, but rather a tried-and-tested strategy perfected over the last three years which has proven to work for our members.

If you show up and commit to this course, we will support you as much as we can in your efforts to reach your goals. It won't happen overnight, but we will give you the tools and strategies to get there. You are responsible for the results you achieve. We make every effort to provide you with quality information, strategy and guidance to achieve these results but in the end it is up to you.
