Check Whether Your Qualifications Need To Be Assessed
Fortunately for some, not all overseas qualifications need to be assessed.

Search by country and then qualification on the Immigration New Zealand’s Qualifications Exempt from Assessment list to see whether you need to be assessed. They also have a list of Qualifications Recognised as an Exception, that don’t require assessment.

If you find your qualification on either of these lists, they’re recognised in New Zealand and do not require external authorisation which helps to make your immigration process smoother.

If your qualification is not on either list, then you will need to have it assessed by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/qualifications-standards/international-qualifications/international-qualifications-assessment/

Note: If you are a teacher, you will require your teaching qualification to be assessed by NZQA for salary and registration purposes.

Check Whether You Need To Register with a New Zealand Board
Once you know whether your qualifications are recognised in NZ, have a look to see whether you'll need to register with any of the National Boards in order to practice in New Zealand.
